You might wish to take advantage of the regularly scheduled ferry service on the Twin City Liner, which will carry you back and forth between Bratislava and Vienna in less than 75 minutes.

Devin Castle

Visit the beautiful ruins of Devín Castle, perched atop a rocky cliff high above the confluence of the Morava and Danube Rivers - a place woven in legend with a colourful history. In 1809, the castle was actually blown up by Napoleonic soldiers. The car drive from downtown Bratislava to the castle ruins takes about 20 minutes. If you prefer, you again have the option of taking the ship.

The Little Carpathian Wine Road

This begins in Bratislava. You drive in the direction of Devín, continuing on through the Little Carpathians, mountains which are mostly nature sanctuaries. Along the way, you will have the opportunity to visit such towns as Modra (known for its traditional ceramics), Častá or Pezinok. You can also look forward to wine-tasting in a wine cellar, where you will also be introduced to the history of wine-making in the Little Carpathian region.

Modra

This town is famous for its traditional ceramics. Visit the private pottery factory and learn all about how ceramics products are manufactured.

Castle Červený Kameň

This royal castle of the Middle Ages is located above the town in the Little Carpathian region. Visitors are able to view its beautiful collection of historic furnishings. In summer, the castle also serves as the venue for demonstrations of historical fencing techniques, as well as performances of medieval music and theatrical productions.

Schloss Hof

(in Austria) located on the so-called Marchfeld Schloss Strasse. The most expansive castle grounds of any Austrian castle in a country setting. Constructed in 1726 for the legendary field general, Prince Eugene of Savoy remodelled under Empress Maria Theresia to become the large castle complex we know today.
