Just the way Beethoven likes it

Wien

    Ludwig Van

My first gourmet tip for lunch or dinner à la Beethoven takes you to the restaurant 'Ludwig van' in a listed building that Beethoven once lived in. This fine Viennese inn has unearthed old recipes from antique cookbooks from Beethoven's Vienna days and transformed them into anniversary menus which will be available in 2020.

    Bar LVDWIG

Just in time for the anniversary year, the new bar LVDWIG has opened its doors in the famous Papagenogasse, right next to the Theater an der Wien. A bar with Viennese charm and flair! The Viennese attitude to life is celebrated with classical drinks and Viennese tapas from Tuesday to Saturday from 4 pm as After Work & After Theatre Bar. My favourite cocktail: The signature drink called "Ludwig"!

    Conditorei Sluka

Not only in the Beethoven Year is the visit of the Conditorei Sluka in the 1st district a highlight for me. A true Jungendstil jewel in traditional Viennese coffee house style! In honour of Beethoven and in memory of his great passion for hot drinking chocolate, the Fidelio Torte was created especially for 2020. A recipe made from light nougat chocolate mousse, sour cherry and a flour-free chocolate base. The shiny glaze is supposed to remind one of a piano.

    Ströck Bakery

Coffee party with the composer! The Ströck bakery has also come up with something special: Following Beethoven's great passion for coffee, a special Sacher coffee cube with fine chocolate made in the Austrian baking tradition was designed, which will be available in selected stores with Beethoven's portrait.

    Heuriger Mayer am Pfarrplatz

At the Heurigen in today's Grinzing, Ludwig van Beethoven is known to have liked the local wine a lot. Among others at the address Pfarrplatz 2, where the famous Heuriger "Mayer am Pfarrplatz" is located today. The winery has dedicated the wine "Beethoven Viennese White 2018" to the composer for the anniversary year. A lively spicy and extremely drinkable white wine!
