Even closer than Schönbrunn is the Technisches Museum Wien, which is located right next door. The architecturally impressive building has been a museum of science and technology for about 100 years, with exhibits exploring themes from an Austrian perspective. Its enormous halls are lit by natural light which floods in through giant glass domes. The items on display include turbines, planes, steam engines, relics from the golden age of industry, robots and examples of space-age technology.
