Slovenia Green Accommodation Label

In 2023, our hotel received the Slovenia Green Accommodation Label from the Slovenian Tourist Board for our sustainable and green efforts. Sustainability plays an important role in Slovenia. In all spheres of life. Including providing a comfortable rest in hotels.

Austria Trend Hotel Ljubljana

Austria Trend Hotel Ljubljana is particularly devoted to sustainability and was rewarded with the Slovenia Green label for its efforts.

Sustainable conduct is reflected in care for the natural environment, green solutions in cleaning, waste management, soft mobility, responsible water and energy management and an emphasis on seasonal and local food.

Green Key Certificate

We were awarded the Green Key Certificate, which is the leading standard of excellence in the field of environmental responsibility and sustainability in the tourism industry. The certificate recognizes our commitment to adhere to the strict criteria set by the international Foundation for Environmental Education (FEE). We believe in a green future!

We declare that:

  • we are environmentally friendly in all areas of our business,
  • we raise awareness about the importance of sustainability among our friends, family and visitors; and
  • we are constantly looking for new solutions to manage natural resources responsibly and to use electricity and heat efficiently.

Doing so is first and foremost beneficial for the environment. In most cases, this kind of environmental care is about small measures that do not mean a major effort or sacrifice of comfort for any of us. It only takes simple and subtle actions, but if we all do them together, we can change the world for the better and leave it to our descendants as we got it from our ancestors.
That’s why our hotel is calling out to you with “environmental sparks”. Awareness-raising is an important prerequisite for the Green Key Certificate. We would be grateful if you could consider these tips and help us to preserve the environment. We also welcome your comments and suggestions.
THANK YOU FOR YOUR UNDERSTANDING AND KINDNESS!

Tap Water Certificate

Our hotel received the Tap Water Certificate by the Chamber of Public Utilities of Slovenia. By obtaining this certificate we

  • encourag our colleagues, employees, partners, customers and other stakeholders to drink drinking water from the tap and
  • make them aware that we have high-quality drinking water in Slovenia and that drinking water from the tap is healthier and more environmentally friendly than reaching for prepackaged water

ENVIRONMENTAL SPARKS / OUR ENVIRONMENTAL EFFORTS AND YOUR PARTICIPATION ARE THE KEY TO A BETTER FUTURE

WE CAN ENJOY DRINKING WATER, BUT WE ARE MINDFUL OF OUR CONSUMPTION

To maintain a satisfactory standard of living, a person consumes about 80 litres of drinking water a day. In Slovenia, we consume between 130 and 200 litres per household member per day. Just one flush of the toilet uses between 2 and 8 litres of clean drinking water, while the average Slovenian household uses 6 litres of water a day for cooking.
We are proud to have you as our guest in an environment where the water is drinkable. In Slovenia, we drink exceptionally clean and high-quality water. Just fill your glass, and cheers!
Use water economically – turn off the tap while brushing your teeth. This can save up to 18 litres of water per minute. When showering and bathing, we also make sure the water does not run unnecessarily.

TOWELS AND BEDDING

Changing towels every day is bad for the environment, placing an extra load on it through electricity, water and detergent consumption. Our hotel provides fully hygienic laundry of the highest quality standards and works in partnership with the company Salasianer. Laundry is washed in accordance with the indicated disinfection and sustainable washing procedures.

The environment will thank you if you only put towels on the floor when they are dirty and you want us to wash them.

SEPARATE WASTE DILIGENTLY

Separate rubbish according to the instructions. Waste should always be disposed of in the appropriate containers and never in nature or down drains. Waste dumped in this way contaminates groundwater and other sources of drinking water. There are rubbish bins with compartments in all the corridors and halls.

SAVING ENERGY

We use energy-saving/LED lamps. We turn off lights when we don’t need them. In the rooms, we use cards to switch on/off the electricity in the room, as well as the sensor-controlled lighting. This helps reduce electricity consumption and preserve the environment.

REDUCING OUR CARBON FOOTPRINT

We close the doors and windows when the air conditioning and heating are running. We ventilate the rooms briefly in the morning and evening to provide some fresh air.
We close the windows when using the air conditioning. Instead of using air conditioning, open the window in the evening to cool the room in the summer and close the curtains during the day to prevent overheating.

COSMETICS

We use 100% natural cosmetics

REDUCING THE USE OF PLASTIC AND PAPER

Slovenia generated an average of 489 kg of municipal waste per resident in 2020. Every year, an individual in Slovenia uses between 100 and 300 plastic bags, which are only used for a few minutes to an hour at most. The world is producing more and more plastic, 6.4 million tonnes of which is ending up in the environment. Plastic particles enter our bodies and the bodies of animals, which has a negative impact on our health. AVOID USING SINGLE-USE PLASTIC PRODUCTS.
We reduce paper consumption in offices and use recycled paper.

WE ENJOY THE LOCAL WEALTH OF NATURAL AND CULTURAL HERITAGE

Slovenia’s natural and cultural heritage is outstanding – we inform our guests about the surrounding natural attractions and cultural events. Guests can find information on attractions, experiences, gastronomy and customs at the reception desk.

WE EXPLORE OUR SURROUNDINGS WITH ENVIRONMENTALLY FRIENDLY FORMS OF MOBILITY

Ljubljana is ideal for cycling, e-scooters and public transport. Every trip that a guest makes by bike, e-scooter, public transport or on foot instead of by car is an environmentally friendly act. Guests can find full information on bike rental at the reception desk.
