Sports & Fun

But there’s also plenty for outdoor types to enjoy as well. The man-made 21-kilometre-long Danube Island is one of the Viennese’s favourite free-time destinations, where you can cycle, skate, jog or go for a relaxing walk. Vienna’s Prater Park is also just a short walk away, an oasis of green in the middle of the city with a traditional amusement park that’s home to the world-famous Giant Ferris Wheel. It’s also the location of another Viennese institution, the Schweizerhaus beer garden, which serves traditional Stelze - a crispy pork knuckle (March - October).

The hotel is well situated if you’re in the mood for a spot of shopping. A short hop on the underground will transport you to the Donauzentrum, Vienna’s largest shopping centre. If you’re feeling shopped out after picking up a bargain or two, you can always go for a relaxing coffee or drink on the futuristic campus of the Vienna University of Economics and Business, an impressive example of Vienna’s modern city planning.
