The hometown

Salzburg - The Mozart city par excellence.

In Salzburg, Mozart is always present everywhere and at all times. At every turn, one encounters his legacy here in the form of concerts, festivals, city tours or in the coffee house and while enjoying the inevitable Mozartkugeln and their sweet variations.

    Mozart's birthplace Salzburg

There, where almost at any time of the year the crowds of visitors jostle on the alley, Mozart was born. Be sure to take a guided tour, otherwise you will only learn half! Take a look at the salt barrel in the kitchen and the many journeys of Mozart, as well as the view from the former family living room with historical eyes!

    Mozart's residence Salzburg

There is always something going on here and rightly so. Plan enough time! The most valuable items in the house are the treasures in the underground autograph vault, including Mozart's 200 original letters. Accessible only with a special guided tour, but it is worthwhile!

    House for Mozart

Today it’s called "House for Mozart", but most people will have known it as "Kleines Festspielhaus". Built as a theater hall, rebuilt and adapted several times and even the auditorium was once turned 180 degrees. Now it presents itself ultra-modern and in the foyer you can even find a 17 meter high slatted wall with Mozart's head made of Swarovski crystals.

    Mozarteum and „Magic Flute House“

The beautiful building in late historicist style houses not only the offices of the Mozarteum Foundation but also the breathtakingly beautiful concert halls and the Bibliotheca Mozartiana - the world's largest specialized library on the life and works of Mozart. Open to all interested to read in the reading room. And best of all, in the garden is the "Magic Flute Cottage" that once stood in Vienna and where Mozart is said to have composed parts of his Magic Flute.

    Mozart Week

Mozart's greatest admirer today is probably the world-famous opera singer Rolando Villazón, who has been the artistic director of the Mozart Week in Salzburg since 2019, and thus is the best ambassador for his friend Wolfang Amadé, whose letters he has all read. You should at least be there for his Mexican serenade for Mozart's birthday in the alleys of Salzburg.
